Senior Bioinformatician/PhD student
Kia ora. Over the course of my career, I have actively participated in various research projects involving a wide range of species, including both pathogenic and beneficial microbes, insect pests, fish, and plants. My expertise in bioinformatics spans across key areas such as genomic analysis, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and comparative studies. Currently, my primary focus lies in the exploration of microbiomes and its interactions with host, particularly in taonga species such as mānuka, radula, and tamure. As a result of this, I embarked on a PhD journey in 2022, a collaboration between Plant & Food Research and the University of Auckland. The primary objective of my PhD project is to investigate the role of microbes in enabling our taonga species to adapt effectively to the challenges brought about by changing climates. I am also a certified software carpentry instructor.
