Dr Hayley Ridgway

Science Group Leader

Hayley.Ridgway@plantandfood.co.nz

In the first part of my career I spent 19 years at Lincoln University as an Associate Professor teaching plant pathology, microbial genetics and molecular technologies. Since 2017 I have been employed at Plant & Food Research where I am a Science Group Leader for Plant Protection Systems. My main area of research is the interaction between plants and micro-organisms, both beneficial and pathogenic. I am interested in the role that plant microbiomes play in plant growth, health and stimulation of secondary metabolites, for example: -Plant microbiomes – community structure and function; -Plant/microbe interactions – spectrum from pathogenic to symbiotic; endophytic micro-organisms; arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF); grapevine trunk diseases
