I am a senior scientist based in Palmerston North, New Zealand. I have 40 years research experience, specialising in stable plant genetic transformation, with a focus on metabolic engineering of ornamental and fruit crops. I have also managed commercial projects on plant biotechnology for international clients. During my career, I have developed transformation protocols for some 30 plant taxa including: chrysanthemum, cyclamen, cymbidium orchids, petunia, regal and zonal pelargoniums, tomato and highbush blueberry. I have been published in several international scientific journals, including The Plant Cell, BMC Plant Biology, Planta, the New Zealand Journal of Crop & Horticultural Science and In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology-plant.
