My research team is focused on the biosynthesis, chemistry and genetic regulation of plant specialised metabolites. These include carotenoids, terpenes, polyphenols and alkaloids in a variety of fruit crops. My own research has centred on the control of fruit colour, particularly the colour derived from anthocyanins. As a molecular biologist, I am interested in how plant transcription factors control these pathways and how the environment can influence this process.
